Tampa International Airport- Master Plan
Tampa, Florida
On November 20, 2014, Tampa International Airport broke ground on its $953 million Master Plan expansion, launching the largest construction effort at TPA since 1971. The major components of the project include a 50,000 square-foot expansion of the Main Terminal, a 1.3-mile automated people mover and a 2.6-million square-foot rental car center. The Master Plan also includes improvements, such as new escalators, flooring and restaurants. The Master Plan will double passenger capacity from 17 million to 34 million by 2033 and create more than 9,000 construction jobs, as well as over 1,000 permanent jobs at the airport.
Skanska USA Inc. is the general contractor for the Master Plan Project, and construction will be complete by 2018.
