NYU Langone Medical Center- Kimmel Pavilion & Medical Science Building

NYU Langone Medical Center is a premier academic medical center that is associated with New York University and focused on patient care, education and research. NYU Langone is currently working on a campus transformation project, which includes the construction of the Kimmel Pavilion and the Medical Science Building. Turner Construction Company has been chosen as the general contractor for both buildings.
The Helen L. and Martin S. Kimmel Pavilion, which is set to open in 2018, will be directly connected to the existing Tisch Hospital on the main campus. As an extension of the hospital, the Kimmel Pavilion will include high-efficiency operating rooms, single-bed inpatient rooms and other medical services. Totaling 830,000 square feet, the state-of-the-art building will accommodate emerging technologies and practices, as well as increase efficiency and emphasis on patient care.
Located on the southernmost end of the main campus, NYU Langone’s Medical Science Building will be a new facility dedicated to advanced biomedical research. The 365,000 square-foot building will include 10 floors of laboratory space, conference spaces and public amenities. The Medical Science Building’s open, flexible design will enable investigators, students, faculty and clinicians to work more efficiently and collaboratively.
Project Highlights
The NYU Kimmel Pavilion and Science Building additions were physically separated by the occupied hospital. This separation allowed FC-CS to incorporate three types of badges. The first was specific to access Kimmel Pavilion construction only, the second gave access to the Science Building construction, and lastly there was badge for all the project sites. By utilizing the data, the project leaders are able to monitor headcount for both jobs and ensure accurate manpower to match the materials and scheduling for the site.
